Presentation of Arthur Varenne
A passionate creative artist, Arthur Varenne aka Bokito creates graphic compositions inspired by his hikes in the mountains, his travels, puns and ideas that come to him from his experiences. His mediums include paper, canvas, walls, textiles and spray paint.
Originally from the Lyon area, Arthur left to study architecture in Lille after his A-levels. It was during a university exchange to Japan, followed by a long trip across Asia, that he developed his passion for drawing, which he recorded in his travel notebook.
He thinks of his art in terms of tree structures, as the result of a succession of ideas that lead to the image he wants to create. This allows him to have a thousand ideas a second and to imagine his next projects one step ahead. His main inspiration is his environment in the broadest sense. Sometimes he is even inspired by words or phrases, which he then translates into images and draws.
A self-taught artist, he develops a realistic graphic representation, essentially in black and white with touches of golden colour. His technique is based on values and textures using hatching, dots and smooth shading.
